Community Action of Southern Indiana (CASI) is offering four workshops this summer on leadership and management topics. The aim is to help strengthen the community through personal and professional skills that will last a lifetime.
“The purpose behind these workshops is two fold,” says CASI Executive Director, Adrian Jamieson. “One, we want to improve our workplace culture by offering a quality and consistent experience to employees across program areas. And two, we want to empower our community’s employers to do the same. We spend about a ¼ of our life at work, so if there is a way to make it a more positive experience for everyone – we want to do that.”
The first workshop, May 16th, covered four core concepts of the Foundation For Effective Management.:
- Types of management
- How to build trust
- Running effective meetings
- The importance of feedback
Each of these core concepts can help develop valuable career skills.Offering more soft skills that can be added to resumes can expand career opportunities. All of which will help put the resources and power back within the community.
The second workshop, May 23rd, centered on Leading With Confidence:
- Focusing on keys to organizational culture
- Workplace quirks
- Evaluating candidates to meet your needs
- Performance improvement strategies
The third workshop, June 6th, will cover Beyond Paychecks: Soft BenefitsThat Stick-
- Focusing on creative retention strategies that go beyond salary
These concepts help to empower the community by further developing skills that will improve workplace culture and employer/employee collaboration. This helps create improved communication, efficiency in the workplace, and community innovation.
Overall the workshops provide an interactive experience with members within the community and CASI. With real-life examples and activities to help show how the concepts can be applied in daily life, while also addressing the conflicts everyone could face when applying these skills. Providing a supportive and engaging learning environment for anyone who wishes to join!
The last workshop in the series is scheduled for June 27th: Leading Through Change. from 9 am-12 am. Registration is available here. We hope to see you there!
